Compared to project management the business analysis role is a relatively young profession. Companies are working to figure out how they will go about establishing a strong business analysis discipline as a core competency within their organizations. One way to move business analysis forward is through a business analysis mentoring relationship.

If you are a new to this profession, you need to find a mentor. If you are a practicing business analyst, who enjoys sharing your knowledge with others, providing mentoring to other business analysts’ results in many benefits for you personally and will accelerate your mentee’s knowledge.

This presentation discusses the benefits of mentoring for you, roles and responsibilities of the mentor and mentee roles, the steps to get started, guidelines for engaging in a mentoring relationship, advice on how to work through difficult situations and you will be provided a template to use for planning mentoring goals and tracking progress of the relationship.
