Overview:

This course is equivalent to the 4th day of Essential Skills for the Business Analyst and intended for students who are only interested in elicitation techniques.

Elicitation is one of the primary skills necessary to be a successful business analyst. Strong communication skills and knowing which elicitation technique to use for the given situation will significantly increase the business analyst’s effectiveness. Students will learn to improve their communication skills by widening the breadth of their questions and by fine tuning their ability to listen for true causes of problems, not just symptoms.

In this course students will learn to:

  • Ask the right questions through the use of interviewing templates developed specifically for business analysis.
  • Improve listening skills.
  • Elicit critical requirements using various tools and techniques.
  • Use elicitation techniques to facilitate requirements gathering and work toward consensus.
  • Gather requirements in a group setting by preparing an agenda and managing the group discussion.

Since this is a subset of a B2T Core Course, students will not be authorized to take the certification proficiency exam for free.
