Overview:

Agile projects are gaining popularity and have been very successful in many organizations. They are characterized by self managed teams, daily team measurements, and small well-defined deliverables. The agile project requires experienced team members. Initially some agile experts downplayed the need for a business analyst (BA) on the agile team. To make an agile project more successful, an experienced business analyst will add significant value to the team. BAs possess unique skills including facilitation, requirements elicitation and management, and an in-depth understanding of business processes. Agile teams that have used experienced BAs have realized substantial benefits.

In this course students learn to:

  • Write user stories.
  • Identify the 12 key ways a BA can add value to an agile project.
  • Determine criteria for prioritizing product backlog and new requests.
  • Assist with Sprint/iteration planning.
  • Map the essential skills of a business analyst to agile tasks.
