    Organizations often will look to improve a process, not realizing the actual extent of the process. For instance, as this comic strip pokes fun at, the actual start and end point of the process was the customer, and some internal process (I’m guessing Accounting, since it had to deal with credit card payment) changed. The scope of the Accounting department probably dealt with payments, not realizing the entire process really started and ended with the customer.
